About Me
My passion for breastfeeding and infant feeding support began after the birth of my first child in 2016. I had no experience, no prenatal education, and no knowledge of the challenges that come with learning how to nourish your child with your body. I believed, like many do, that if this a natural experience it should come to me naturally!
Thus began a journey of working with lactation consultants, pumping, supplementing, and generally "figuring it out". I had a great support system but the gaps in knowledge about this "natural experience" from my peers, family, and medical professionals sent me down a path to ensure that those that want and/or need support in feeding their child have a knowledgeable source to help them make decisions that are best for their family.
In 2022, I took a leap of faith, quit my full time job and went back to school to become a Lactation Consultant. I spent 1.5 years in classes learning the basics about anatomy and human lactation while also interning with board certified Lactation Consultants in variety of settings. I've shadowed under hospital Lactation Consultants, outpatient office settings, and private practice home visits. I received a diploma in Human Lactation and then shortly after passed my boards to become an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I'm a Certified Postpartum and Infant Care Doula and currently work part time at a local hospital as a Lactation Consultant.
My experience has been varied and broad and my passion for helping new families has only been strengthened. My dedication to continuous growth and continuing education as well as staying up to date on evidence based resources allows me to confidently provide knowledgeable and compassionate care for every family I serve. My mission at Latch with Love Lactation is to consistently show up with love and hope in each and every interaction.
